The modern mentality is expressed in fast changes of social and cultural policies, breaking down barriers, sometimes favoring the expression of the subjectivity of an individual, company or nation, either by inhibiting or even annihilating singularities that construct the subject as a carrier of potential transformation, in order to become what he really is (an expression used by Jung to explain the process of individuation).

In the times we live in, despite all the material and technological construction demands, it is asking something more from man that perhaps he is unable to give. And in this modern context, yoga is also a means of maintaining health in a stressful society. While the central theme of Yoga concentrates on the spiritual path, their practices have direct benefits and objectives for anyone indifferent to this path.

With the Asanas (psycho-physical exercises) the physical consequences of the discomfort during the cumulative period of one day sitting in a chair or bending over a table, can be decreased. Relaxation techniques can help reduce the stress produced by the lack of time and hyper-stimulation of the nervous system. The physical and mental therapy is one of the great contributions of Yoga for today man. Yoga works on the principle of integration and this may be what makes it so effective.

Globalization has brought the information and communication but also brought a lack of guiding lines. In these times when a man is identified and stereotyped by the marks required in a certain standard, only his interior achievements can identify him with himself. The present moment, with its impermanence and constant change, requires a psychic and emotional reorganization of man. In this sense Yoga has also been highly requested. It provides a means for people to find their own path, connecting with their essences and interacting with their real Being.

For all mentioned before, Yoga possesses an amazing malleability. Both can be a support to establish a pathway involving the inner or outer realities, or can relax a tired body. Each one picks up where he wants to go. However, whatever the choice, this is a path that cannot be understood intellectually and can only be achieved through practice and direct experience.
